Wall Bed Hardware: Mechanism and Spare Parts
How wall bed rotation hardware is built, what ships with the cabinet, and how to order spare parts by model code.
Published 2026-11-05 · Wall bed hardware
HJF Metal supplies wall bed (Murphy bed) hardware as a complete unit together with its cabinet. The rotation hardware is developed in-house; we do not buy in hinge sets. Nineteen models in six mechanism families cover 900 to 1500 mm mattresses, rated at 200 kg or 300 kg by size. Replacement parts are matched to the original model code.
This page covers what sits inside the mechanism, which dimensions cannot move, and how to ask for a spare part without guessing a part number. For model-by-model dimensions, see the 19-model wall bed hardware range.
What the mechanism is made of
A wall bed carries the weight of the mattress and the sleeper through a pivot, holds closed against the cabinet when stored, and releases every day for years. Four assemblies do that work:
Gas-spring lift
Piston hardware balanced to the weight of the bed, so one person can fold it up and down without a slam. Sizing is set per configuration, not taken off a generic chart.
Rotation hardware
The turning points are machined in our own shop. This is a proprietary assembly and we do not buy in hinge sets, so there is no third-party part to swap into it.
Locking catch and fixings
Holds the bed closed when stored and releases on opening. Mounting plates and fixings are supplied for a solid wall or a cabinet carcass built to take the load.
Welded steel frame and cabinet
Carbon-steel frame, welded and powder-coated in our Longgang plant, supplied together with the cabinet. The frame goes into the opening as one piece.
We do not publish per-component load figures or gas-spring cycle counts. Those are confirmed against your model code and drawing during enquiry, together with the carton data for the kit.
Six families, nineteen models
The range is grouped by how the bed folds and what the room does while the bed is up. Widths below are mattress widths in millimetres.
| Family | Code | Mattress widths (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| Vertical-flip | ZF | 900, 1200, 1350, 1500 |
| Side-flip | CF | 900, 1200, 1350, 1500 |
| Side-flip + sofa | S | 1200, 1350, 1500 |
| Vertical-flip + sofa | SZF | 1200, 1350 |
| Side-flip + desk | CFS | 1200, 1350, 1500 |
| Vertical-flip + desk and shelf | ZFS | 900, 1200, 1350 |
Every model has a Frame outer dimension in the full size table. That figure is also the cabinet clear opening, so it is the number to send when you are matching an existing carcass.
Dimensions that do not move
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Load rating, 900 mm and 1200 mm | 200 kg |
| Load rating, 1350 mm and 1500 mm | 300 kg |
| Mattress thickness, all sizes | Between 130 mm and 150 mm |
| Cabinet clear opening | Frame outer dimension for that model |
| Delivery scope | Complete unit including the cabinet |
| Minimum order | 100 pieces per configuration |
Mattress thickness is the one specification we cannot flex on. A thinner mattress sits loose on the platform; a thicker one will not clear the cabinet when the bed folds up. Samples take 7 to 10 days and bulk runs 25 to 35 days, or 30 to 45 days in peak season and for custom work.
Questions buyers ask about parts
Do you supply spare hinges?
The rotation hardware is our own design and we do not buy in hinge sets, so there is no third-party hinge that fits. For a unit already shipped, send the model code or a photo of the part and we quote the matching component from our own tooling.
Can I order individual brackets or fittings?
Wall beds ship as a complete unit together with the cabinet, and we do not sell loose parts as a separate product line. Replacement parts for an existing unit are quoted against the model code.
Can I fit the mechanism into a cabinet I already have?
If a carcass is already on site, build or adjust the opening to the Frame outer dimension for that model. The frame goes in as one piece. Send the opening size and we confirm which model fits before you order.
Is the mechanism tested?
Yes. The mechanisms are tested to EN 1129 by SGS, report XMHL2005002469FT, at the sizes listed on this page. Other standards can be arranged and quoted separately for a specific market.
What do I send to get a spare part quote?
The model code, a photo of the part, and the quantity. If you do not have the code, a photo of the identification plate plus the mattress width is usually enough to narrow it down.
Do you make non-standard sizes?
Yes, to drawing, at the same 100-piece minimum. Non-standard sizes and configurations go through the same EN 1129 review before we quote a lead time.
